Jack Devnarain

Chairman of the South African Guild of Actors

Jack Devnerain started his acting career in Durban performing on the community theatre circuit while studying Law at the University of Natal. After graduating in 1993, he joined the Police Service and served for nine years, all the while performing in film, TV and stage productions. 

He moved to Johannesburg in 2002 when he started work on Isidingo and has since performed in numerous TV and film productions, including the heist action movie 31 million Reasons for which he received a SAFTA nomination as ‘Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film’. He has received numerous awards for his performances on TV and continues to build on the body of work that has earned him recognition on the African continent and beyond.  

Devnarain is an accomplished MC and enjoys regular bookings with both private and corporate clients. As a presenter, MC and facilitator, he has worked with such clients as the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, the Ford Foundation, the SAPS, BHP Billiton, Business Connexion, ABSA, Standard Bank, Vodacom and Tsogo Sun. 

Devnerain’s most memorable career highlight was being part of the Trek4Mandela group that summited Kilimanjaro on Mandela Day 2015, in an effort to raise funds to support Caring4Girls.  He hopes to empower young women into future leadership roles through his committed partnership with Always Keeping Girls in School.

Jack remains committed to building solidarity within the performance industry by serving as Chairman of the South African Guild of Actors (SAGA) and as the Actor’s Representative for the cast of Isidingo.
