Almost a year after their dramatic split, DJ Zinhle (real name Ntombezinhle Jiyanehle) and rapper AKA (Kiernan Forbes) seem happier in their new relationships than they ever were together. It seems they have happily moved on and it's probably about time for the rest of us to do the same.
The two musicians welcomed daughter Kairo in July 2015 but ended their relationship abruptly in September 2015 following allegations that AKA had cheated on DJ Zinhle with media personality Bonang Matheba.
It only took AKA and Matheba just a few months to publicly confirm their relationship through a few strategic Instagram posts. They are a few months shy of a year together and are constantly each other's #WomanCrushWednesday and #ManCrushMonday -- making sure to keep all their followers locked into their high-profile romance.
Following their acrimonious breakup, and in light of AKA's very public relationship with Matheba, all of South Africa jumped in to pick sides over the issue. When DJ Zinhle appeared on magazine show, Top Billing, in May looking better than ever and referring to herself as feeling strong, her fans took to Twitter and started the "strength like DJ Zinhle" memes.
And now we know just where that glow-up came from -- she'd moved on and we didn't even know it.
She kept everyone guessing as to who the new man in her life was for months, calling him "Mr Bond" and "007" and only featuring his hands or glimpses of him from behind on her Instagram feed. She finally revealed her new man's identity a few weeks ago.
DJ Zinhle and businessman Brendan Naidoo now openly refer to each other as "Mr and Mrs Bond" in their photos of each other in public displays of affection like we've never seen from DJ Zinhle before.
AKA and DJ Zinhle both seem very happy. While it's a step in a completely different direction from how they handled their relationship, it seems to be working for everyone involved. It's time for us to move on too.
