Chief Operating Officer Africa & MEA Continent Lodging Services
Mark Satterfield is the Chief Operating Officer of Marriott International’s Africa Region where he is responsible for the operations and success of the company’s 150 managed and franchised hotels in the region and another 40 additional properties currently scheduled to open between now and 2018. Additionally, Mark has oversight of the Middle East and Africa’s continent lodging service support operations including Global Design, Information Technology, Operations, and Risk Management. Mark has had the responsibility for the integration and management of Protea Hotels by Marriott following their acquisition by Marriott in 2014.
Satterfield joined Marriott in 1987 as a management trainee and has held numerous positions of increasing operational responsibility. Previous roles include director of finance at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel and general manager roles in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Seoul, South Korea. His most recent assignment, prior to being named chief operating officer for Africa, was as area vice president for the United Kingdom South & Ireland.
A native of the United States, Satterfield is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Management.
