Nyasha Manjengenja

Programme Manager for the Child and Youth Enrichment Programme at Ikamva Labantu

Nyasha Manjengenja graduated BSocial work (Summa Cum Laude) at University of the Western Cape. She went on to work as a statutory social worker in Cape Town courts, advocating for the rights of children while working on a intervention level within their home set up to improve the social functioning of families. She further worked at a Residential Social worker at a Children’s homes responsible to working with adoption agencies, government departments, NGO’s and foster homes. She worked at a Development Officer at University of the Western Cape, delivering after-hours crisis psycho-social intervention to students, de-briefing trauma aftermaths and creating conducive living and learning environments that help University students to not only graduate but attain necessary graduate attributes upon completion of their university career. She holds a Masters degree in Child & Family studies and currently studying towards a PhD in Social Work.

Manjengenja joined Ikamva Labantu as a social worker in 2014 and was responsible for direct intervention within the 300 homes that we worked in as well as supervising team of Child & Youth Care Workers and Community Based workers in the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children’s department. Was promoted to Programme manager in 2015 and now responsible for managing the Child & Youth Enrichment programme. Passionate about human rights and development especially of individuals whose life chances appear limited by their circumstances. Skilled at helping people unlock their potential and self-actualizing while remaining grounded.
